Science Word Doctor, LLC provides science and medical writing services under the direction of the former University of Michigan Medical School faculty member, Dervla Mellerick, who writes manuscripts that are regularly published in high-impact journals. Dervla previously performed cutting-edge research on stem cells, transcription factors, tumor antigens, and herpesvirus that was funded by RO1, R29, and R03 grants from NIH. Thus, she has first-hand experience in good experimental design and data interpretation.

Dr. Mellerick personally ensures that each document that her company handles is given the attention that it deserves so that the content is clear and compelling.

To get a manuscript reviewed by a top-tier Western journal, the English must be perfect. For scientists and doctors who struggle to gather competitive results to compile into manuscripts, language fluency and flow can be a real challenge, even for a native English speaker.

RATES:

Our base rate for academic writing is $60/hr; we charge industry a minimum of $90/hr. Editing pricing starts at $0.04/word.

We also negotiate pricing based on flat rates, where a written estimate is given up front (if the works takes longer than estimated we pay, and vice versa).

Dr. Mellerick also provides coaching services for individuals with difficulties in compiling manuscripts and grants, where the client does the writing under Dr. Mellerick's direction. She charges $60/hr for these services, which include giving advice, as well as reading and editing materials.
